Geography Curriculum Statement
At West Heath Primary School, we believe that Geography helps to provoke and provide answers to questions about the natural and human aspects of the world. By creating an enquiry-led curriculum, we believe children will become engrossed in their topic and given a focus to strive towards within their learning. We want children to know and appreciate that geography is, and always has been, and always will be, all around us.
Children progress from studying their own locality to exploring physical and human features of the wider world, gaining crucial knowledge and geographical skills along the way to develop a love and understanding for our planet. The curriculum is enhanced with a wide variety of experiences such as educational visits and workshops, to further immerse learners in to the geography curriculum.
Geography explains the past, illuminates the present and prepares us for the future. What could be more important than that?
