Class 13 have been helping me put our Tesco Grant money to great use by developing our school allotment! 🌱🪴A huge thank you to everyone in Class 13 for getting stuck in and helping to bring our plans to life. Exciting progress so far — with plenty more to come! 👏🌿

We have had a very practical start to Year 6 Science! We have been investigating light and exploring how it travels in straight lines. The children have planned and carried out their own investigations before analysing and evaluating their findings. It has been fantastic to see them working scientifically, making careful observations and using their results to draw conclusions.

We have been moving soil into the raised beds, ready for some better-quality soil to be added on top! It’s been a dirty job, but someone’s got to do it! 🌱😂

The children have been exploring how to create different textures in music using percussion instruments and body percussion. They experimented with layering different sounds together and changing the way they played to make the music more interesting. One child took on the role of conductor, giving clear signals to control when groups started, stopped, played louder or quieter, and changed their rhythms. It was a great way to develop teamwork, listening skills and an understanding of musical texture.

In maths, we drew out numberlines and physically moved up and down them to deepen our understanding of negative numbers.
