* One pupil that was petrified of water and swimming, overcame his fear, and entered the water. He eventually removed floatation aids and swam with floats; he went on to achieve 5m on his back. * Progress from year 5 to year 6 was good. * This cohort missed swimming in year 4 due to Covid-19 * Swimming in the last term of year 5 and then again in the first term of year 6, made a big impact on pupil progress. It meant pupils had a minimum of 6 weeks out of the pool. |

* One pupil had a major operation on his leg and was therefore unable to take part in any swimming this academic year. * Pupils made excellent progress; pupils' confidence in the water grew. * This cohort attended swimming in the Summer term 2022/2023 and will return to the pool in Autumn 2023/2024. * One pupil with Cerebral Palsy attended swimming. She was assisted in the pool by the head teacher and although her strokes were unrecognizable, her water confidence, muscular strength, and general ability in the water developed greatly. * Some pupils demonstrated outstanding levels of performance, with some pupils exceeding expectations in certain strokes and in the distance they could cover.

* This was the first time this cohort had attended swimming at West Heath Primary School. * Lots of pupils in this cohort had not been exposed to swimming before either inside or outside of school. * Progress was good. Lots of pupils made noticeable improvements from the beginning of the block. *Personal development e.g., learning skills beyond the academic; character building- resilience, determination overcoming fears; skills for life - getting changed all improved over the duration of this block. * A large percentage of pupils that were low-level swimmers had a SEND or were BAME. * This cohort will go swimming again in the Summer term 2023/2024 and continue in the Autumn Term 2024/2025.
