Welcome to Year 6!
First of all, we would like to introduce the staff in Year 6. They are:
Mrs Hatton - Class 13
Miss Outhwaite - Class 14
Mrs Woodcock - Year 6 support (am only)
In addition, Mrs Foster (Deputy Head) and Mrs Adolphe (Assistant Head) are responsible for a number of sets up until the end of SATs week.
Here is a quick reminder about our various weekly events:
Monday and Thursday are our PE days - please make your child has their PE kit in school on these days.
Class 13 will go swimming at some point during the summer term - watch this space for details.
Homework is given out on Friday and expected to be completed and returned by the following Tuesday. Spellings are also given out on Fridays and tested the following week. We would really appreciate your continued support in ensuring your child reads every night, completes their homework and learns their spellings. If nothing else, it will really help them be secondary-ready by the time they leave us!
Year 6 are going to be very busy in the summer term, from the first day we return after the Easter break all the way up to the summer holidays. Not least because, as I am sure you all know, the week starting 8th May is SATs week.
Our topic is 'Eco Warriors' so we have planned lots of outdoor-based activities to help us learn about our responsibility and commitment to the environment and how we can do our bit to help conserve it for generations to come.
Because of this, we will be asking children to bring in suitable, preferably old, clothing and footwear (wellies would be ideal), but we'll give you plenty of warning when this is required. Fingers crossed for plenty of warm, fine weather but we'll still be out even if we get our typical British summer!
