Welcome to the Summer Term!
Wow! What an amazing start Year 1 have had to the summer term. We have really got excited about our new topic, 'Carnival of the Animals'. Take a look out our trip around the world, see if you can guess what amazing continents we have visited.
This week Class 3 have been planting their seeds into pots, we will be watering them and watching them grow over the coming weeks.
This week we went exploring for Mini Beasts, we found them on the ground, in the air and under stones and wood. We also found different flowers in our school. Ask us where to find different Mini Beasts.

What a busy week! Year one have been working very hard this week and have produced some excellent work in maths, literacy and art.

In maths we have been exploring place value and representing numbers in different ways.

In literacy we have been reading 'The Enormous Crocodile' and writing all about his clever tricks to try and catch the children for his tea!

In art we have been working with watercolours to create a Savannah sunset.

We are very proud of our work, we hope you like it too!!!

What an amazing start to the week Year1!
Check out our amazing work

We have been comparing animals from our country to a non European country.

Ask us about animals from the United Kingdom and Africa.

We are becoming really confident with using speech correctly in our writing!

British Values Week

Day 2

Today we have explored our school values:

Resilience
Excellence
Respect
Empathy
Cooperation
Honesty
Determination

We organised ourselves into value parties, explored the meaning of our value word and how we can use and show them in school.

Our Values Parties are up and running! This afternoon we created party posters to promote why our value is the most important.

Please ask your child what value party they belong to and what their value party is promoting.
Wow! Our seeds have really grown, it is time to plant them in our Allotment Plot.

Science Week
This year our science week will focus on environmental science!

Class four have chosen to explore the wind.

Today we started off by exploring the science fair projects and even had presentations off Aiden, Caicey and Ethan, WOW! You have been very busy your projects look amazing!!!

Then we began to explore how then wind works, we had a lot of fun with a fan, a large tube and a packet of feathers.

Finally this afternoon we began to think like scientist, we explored the possible lines of enquiry that we would like to explore and came up with some brilliant scientific questions.
Day 2

What an exciting day we have had!

Our day started with an amazing assembly where we observed some fantastic experiments.

We then meet with the mad scientists who showed us how to make slime, this was great fun and very messy!

This afternoon we finalised our line of enquiry:

"What is the best material for a sail on a wind powered boat?"

Finally we continued to organise our own scientific experiment, by creating sails for boats using different materials.

Class 3's Science Week

Class 3 decided to explore how much rainfall we get over three days. We had to choose the best material to make a Water Catcher and the best place to set it up in our playground. We have been collecting our data each day and entering it onto a class bar chart.
Year 1's Allotment Plot

We have been busy watering our Allotment Plot and watching our vegetables grow.
Look how big they are now!
